RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DOSING ADJUSTMENTS

Updated over 2 months ago

Important Note

Everyone responds differently to medication. The titration schedule on your label may not be the best fit for you individually. Use the following guidance to understand when your current dose is working and when it may need adjustment.

Signs Your Current Dose Is Working Well

  1. Good appetite suppression: You can manage portion sizes and cravings.

  2. Steady weight loss: About 1–1.5 pounds per week.

Reminder:

  • Stay on each dose until it stops being effective.

  • You do not need to increase your dose if you’re doing well.

  • Increasing too soon can raise the risk of side effects.

  • If appetite suppression is steady, weight loss usually follows.

Signs It May Be Time to Increase Your Dose

  1. Weight loss has stopped for 2 weeks or more after being on the same dose for at least 4 weeks.

  2. Hunger returns within a few days after your injection.

    • Note: It is normal and healthy to feel hungrier the day before your injection is due.

  3. If you’ve taken a GLP-1 in the past and started at a low dose, you may have developed a tolerance.

    • Lower doses may no longer provide the same appetite suppression or weight loss.

    • In this case, increasing the dose may help break a stall.

Do NOT Increase Your Dose If…

  1. You are still experiencing side effects.

    • Wait until they resolve before considering an increase.

    • Always notify our team so we can decide if lowering or holding your dose is necessary.

  2. You are forcing yourself to eat.

    • This is a sign your dose may already be too high. You still need proper nutrition.

  3. You are losing more than 2 pounds per week.

    • Rapid weight loss can cause other health problems that we want to avoid.
